The Impossible Dream

It is now 2060 and everyone is finally being treated as equal.

By Bridget from Los Angeles 32 in California

It is now 2060 and everyone is finally being treated as equal. We do not see each other at war with each other, but rather a planet working together as one. There is no battle between countries, races, gender, or anything else. Everyone lives as one because we have finally overcome our differences and embrace everyone's individuality. It took time skill and effort to be here today because many people have felt the need to be selfish and only care for themselves rather than looking out for a common neighbor. We no longer live with the underlying constant fear that at any moment a war could begin and human life could be wiped out because we realized that putting weapons down would be beneficial to all. Yes there are still some crazed people that want to fight and have the urge to destroy this peace, but they are greatly outnumbered by the majority that wants our world to stay at peace. This was thought of to be nearly impossible and to this day people question how it came to be, but world peace exists and together we are earth.

Today, I am inspired to fight for what I believe is right such as equality and freedom and I believe in standing up for change. However, I have come to realize that most people in life want the same thing and as soon as we realize that and stop casting stones and pointing fingers at one another, I do deep down have the unrealistic hope that we could live as one and not fight. I think our world is finally going to start changing for the better and I hope that soon our country and then world can find peace.
