Summary
It’s now 40 years later, the world is healing from a period of pain. A revolutionized environment became possible.
We’ve spent a period of our lives in our homes. A period where we were afraid, stressed, but with glimpses of joy. The news became our outlet to the outside world. Of course, there were parts of the world where the situation was not taken seriously. They lived their lives as if nothing had changed- as if the world hadn’t suddenly lost over 200,000 lives. People demanded freedom from their homes, a declaration of arrogance with a touch of privilege. It’s now 40 years later, the world is healing from a period of pain. A revolutionized environment became possible. For so long, we praised the rich and middle class. We didn’t care for those who worked the jobs the rich could never do- the delivery workers, grocery clerks, janitors, farmworkers, and so many more. After everything that happened, our world learned to appreciate them more. We recognize our privileges and use them to help those in need. We love a little stronger, appreciate life around us more passionately, all while never forgetting the things we lost.
Inspiration: The stories of so many people around me, who work hard everyday of their lives. They live so passionately to fight for a better life. They survive with what they have, but never give up. These are the stories of immigrant families.
