Sustainable, healthy, and conscientious.

Sustainable, healthy, and conscientious.

When I think about the future, specifically during this highly convoluted time where the COVID-19 epidemic has caused a global halt unlike any seen before, I must admit that the future will be unlike anything that I have known, and perhaps most of the world’s population has ever been familiar with. Whatever change is inevitably to come hopefully will be for the absolute benefit of the environment, humanity, and all other creatures on this Earth. As we see our unfortunate impact on the environment dwindle because we are forced to temporarily discontinue those toxic conventions, I see that in 2060 the world will be a much more sustainable, healthy, and conscientious place to live.

I see a hybrid of rich greenery and innovative technology as humanity has turned to saving this precious planet, while also furthering our own knowledge and capabilities through advancements in science, medicine, farming, and infrastructure. I see suction tubes on all street corners which take us to place to place instead of vehicles, like in Matt Groening’s genius Futurama. I see cleaner, bluer skies because there is no excess of pollution. I see healthier, happier people as corrupt meat industries no longer inhumanely breed and slaughter animals for overconsumption, because a new, delicious, wholesome substitute for all meats has been created. I see people tending their own gardens, as the American capitalist attitude has shifted to make room in each day for family, friends, and home, instead of 10 hours of work each and every day. I see digital files full of people’s memories, which they can show to their grandchildren like movies to teach them about how once we were on the path to destroying the world, but not anymore. I see race relations improve, and racism diminish as a shameful piece of history. I see women’s rights, minority rights, and global human rights see positive upturns and distinguished acknowledgments as new generations change the world. I see a far better world.

Inspiration: The show Futurama, which is an animated satire which bashes today's culture while also challenging humanity's capabilities within our own vices.
