let’s wait and see what actually happens in the next 40 years

In one version of the 2060 I imagine some of, but not all, of the items on this list will happen, have happened, or will be happening in some capacity. Some of these predictions will either seem extremely likely or not likely at all, but I guess that’s the idea of letting one’s imagination run wild.

• Education and healthcare, while not completely free, are extremely affordable and doesn’t involve taking out loans or putting people in debt

• Self-driving electric cars now hover and the only cars on the market

• Gas stations have been replaced entirely with recharge stations

• Cable TV and home phones have been phased out of homes with an internet connection only remaining

• Moving walkways aren’t limited to just airports and now installed in sidewalks and other buildings for those with walking problems

• Phones can now project holographic displays of the UI and of people you’re talking to

• Every home has a computer and Internet connection because now it’s a necessity and not a luxury

• Physical media like paper books, CDs, Blu-ray/DVD, games are only available digitally

• Humans have successfully landed on Mars, with plans going forward to reach the Asteroid Belt next and moons of Jupiter

• Global warming has been decreasing

• Cancer has a cure

• Wealth is more equally distributed

• Wars are becoming more autonomous, with robots taking on more positions normally filled by humans

These are just some of things I came up with when imaging the future in 2060. Now let’s wait and see what actually happens in the next 40 years.
