How to Better Respond to Pandemics

A key thing that should change is how we as a community/country/world will be attentive and open to what others say, because that is a main reason why some areas have not reacted appropriately to this pandemic. People should see examples where we fell short and remember how effective action can be if it is taken collectively.

Something that inspired me is a story I saw on Instagram near the wake of the pandemic (while there were only a couple of cases in the United States). It was a video taken by a Chinese citizen concerning how the Chinese government took too long to respond to the virus effectively, and how other countries need to learn from their mistakes to prevent the virus from deeply impacting them in the same way--which unfortunately we did not take seriously. It was inspiring as the individual took a big risk and went through a large effort to post the video, given the censorship in China at the time banning online discussion of the coronavirus.
